Bulgarian programmer Kristiyan Kirchev finishes his essay “Electronic Minds” with a vision of the unity of the bio-technological, as a living organism originating in nature and as a result of the ongoing evolution of life on Earth. Finally he concludes that electronic ‘entities’, and moreover, bio-technical entities, i.e. humans interconnected with technology, are living entities that simply have a different kind of energy and different–silicon–material form.

In a sense, Krichev’s “Electronic Mind” thesis is a more positive interpretation of cyberpunk than is typical for the cyberpunk genre, which is typically cast as ‘dystopian.’ It has some of the vibe of ‘solar punk’ but rather than rejecting technology, it embraces technology as ‘nature’, as ‘life itself.’
